Car rental insurance is a protection plan that safeguards you and the vehicle in the event of a collision, theft, and more. Routes Car Rental also offers roadside assistance to help with incidents such as lockouts or lost keys.

Do I need car rental insurance?

By state law you are required to have some type of car rental insurance when you rent from Routes Car Rental or any car rental on the island. Our company requires for all units to have a minimum of a CDW that can match the acquisition value of the rented vehicle and have the declarations page that validates this information (declarations page of vehicle 5 years to current or an endorsement from your insurance company that specifies the amount that covers) This insurance covers damages to the car.  If the customer needs it, we can provide a CDW Waiver to fulfill this requirement. If you are interested in purchasing rental car insurance and additional protection products, we have several options to choose from to best fit your needs.

How can I pay my traffic/toll violation ticket or a toll?

The client must send an email with the traffic/toll violation ticket attached with the following text:

Why am I being charged for a traffic/toll violation ticket I already paid?

If you believe the charges have been paid, please contact us. Customer service representatives will respond to your inquiry.

Can you send me the actual traffic/toll violation ticket?

The letter we sent you includes details about the date and time, as well as the location of the incident. However, since we typically receive only electronic notifications – which reduce processing expenses and time delays – paper copies of tickets or violations generally are not available.

Why am I being charged now after my rental period has ended?

We depend on government and toll agencies for all information related to tolls and other violations. In most cases, that takes one to four weeks – although, in some circumstances, it may take even longer. Our goal is to notify you so that you are alerted as soon as possible. Under the terms and conditions in your rental agreement, you are responsible for all costs, fines, violations, and tolls – as well as an administrative fee we charge for processing and billing.

Why am I getting multiple bills for the same rental period?

Our billing system notifies you about each individual toll or violation.

Why are you charging me a fee?

We apply this fee to all costs our affiliates and we incur for citations and tolls and their administration.
